Spruce up your Bathroom Suite with the Latest Bathroom Trends for Autumn 2011

Autumn is officially here and with it comes a whole new set of home design and decor trends. If you want to update your decor, here is a step by step guide to creating a warm autumnal ambiance in your favorite room of the house.

Roman showers, metallic floor and wall tiles and streamline furniture and fittings are just a few of the hottest bathroom trends for autumn. If you want to modernise your bathroom with stylish suites and accessories, keep these trends in the back of your mind as you shop.

A bathroom is not simply a functional space that we use to prepare for the day ahead but a sanctuary for relaxation and rejuvenation. In order to create the desired ambiance it is essential to be consistent with your decor and carefully consider everything from your bathroom suite to your color scheme.

The first step to updating your bathroom is to de-clutter your space. Once you have eliminated lotions and potions from your surfaces you can look at your bathroom as a blank canvas on which to paint the latest Autumnal trends.

When looking at your existing bathroom suite, does it meet your specific requirements in terms of functionality? Do the fitting you have chosen complement the size of your space? If you do not want to start from scratch, there are plenty of ways to transform your space simply by adding a statement piece of furniture.

One of the easiest ways to transform your bathroom into a serene space is to utilize the space to the best of your ability. Replacing your existing bathroom suite with Roman showers or baths that are more compact can change the dynamic of your room in an instant.

If you want to enhance your bathroom suite without spending a fortune, there are hundreds of bathroom accessories that can give your room a new look for less. You can create a stunning bathroom suite simply by adding a few modern accessories such as bathroom taps, light pulleys and light fittings.

The next step to adding an autumnal feel to your bathroom is to focus on your color scheme. There are a number of options depending on whether you want a dramatic or discreet autumnal theme. You could choose a neutral color for the walls and the floor and incorporate rusty browns and burnt orange colors in a few places. Choosing bath towels, bath mats and artwork in these colors is also an affordable way to update your decor on a budget.

Lastly to add the finishing touches to your theme, pay attention to detail by adding a few candles in a rich dark brown color. These tiny details will finish your theme off nicely and give a homely atmosphere to your bathroom.

While accessories can update a room, don’t overlook the most cost effective option — fresh paint. In a bathroom, the small space means the job goes quickly and uses relatively little in the way of materials. A new colour does wonders for the look of the room, and can make existing decorative items seem new.

Great tips! I think our bathroom needs a complete renovation. The things you mentioned are great ways to start a plan. I think I’d go for a more contemporary design :)
