Dress Your Home in Beauty and Safety with Composite Doors

If you’re looking for a stylish new door for your home that seamlessly provides amazing security, insulation for your home and is as strong as any door can be, then you should consider composite doors. Composite doors consist of several different materials vs. just wood for a wooden door or your everyday UPVC door.

You will save a bit of money on your heating and cooling costs with energy conservation, because composite doors have an inner layer that’s made from insulation (normally foam). But don’t let that fool you into thinking that these doors are not strong and secure. There are different layers that make up a composite door. The outer layer can be glass reinforced plastic (GRP), aluminum steel or UPVC – it just all depends on what your preference is. Glass reinforced plastic is a popular choice these days.

Glass Reinforced Plastic

If you choose GRP for your outer layer, which many people do, you’ll sleep well knowing that it’s extremely durable and strong. They won’t peel, get distorted or warp over time. Another great thing about them vs. wooden doors is that you’ll never have to worry about being overrun by termites and other annoying, damaging pests.

Just about the only thing you would have to worry about (and not even really, since it won’t be very noticeable due to the colors) are scratches. Though they can withstand the test of time in any house, warding off damages and maintaining their stylish, clean appearance, scratches can still happen. They’re also low maintenance, as you won’t have to reseal and repaint them throughout the years.

You can find GRP composite doors to perfectly match just about any style – from rustic cottage to modern chic. They’re very unique in that the glass sections give them a very original and breathtaking look, as they let light in. The glass can be glazed, stained, painted or you can choose plain glass. Half-glazing can be very elegant. You can even have a door with a classical glaze featuring a beautiful picture.

Security with Composite Doors

Composite doors provide a great deal of security. They’re almost impenetrable because they’re so strong due to the varying layers that they’re made from. This means any one would have a heck of a time trying to break into your home if you’re using composite doors. Many also come with special, hard to damage locks. They look like an ordinary lock from the outside, but inside the lock are high-tech technologies that are cylinder free. They’re nearly impossible to manipulate.

Insulation

Composite doors with a GRP outer layer are beautiful and durable, but the inside is normally polyurethane foam that provides a great deal of insulation from heat and noise. There are also high-tech sealing systems used to maximize the efficiency of the insulation. So if you live on a busy street, these doors can help block out the annoying sound of vehicles constantly running in front of the house or kids yelling and screaming as they come off the school bus. During the winter, they help keep the cold out and heat in. During the summer, it’s vice versa. Composite doors can hold and keep out up to six times more heat than your traditional wood doors.

If you’re planning on updating with a new front door, be sure to look for online coupons to help you save some money. Home Depot and Lowe’s are great places to start your search. You can always find the latest coupons at specials with coupons from BehindTheCounter.com, but of course there are tons of ways to get good deals online for home improvement projects.

These doors are great to help block out annoying noices from outside. I live in the city on a pretty busy street. The insulation in our new front door has really minimised the noise that used to echo down our tiled hallway.

Ordinary doors are just boring and quite frankly have many flaws. Composite doors have been designed to phase out many old flaws. Simply put – they are better.
