With December approaching and the high-streets already turning their attention to all things sparkly and gift-like, it’s hard to ignore the festive feeling and not get caught up in the Christmas spirit at this time of year. So, how do you create that lovely Christmas feeling in your home without going wild with the Christmas lights and rendering yourself and your neighbors blind by the 25th December? Well, there are effective ways to go about creating a festive atmosphere in your home without using so much electricity.
The first plan of action is to pick a color scheme. Gone are the days when the traditional red and green with a splash of fake snow are the only options open to us. For those of us who are not interested in having a house covered in pine needles, store-bought trees have never been better. They come in all manner of colors- black, white, pink, silver, gold…- and with various electrical powers lighting them up in a fiber optic fashion. The color of your tree will often help you determine the accompanying color scheme- a pink tree, for example, may inspire a silver decorative theme.
Once you have decided on a scheme for your tree you can continue this theme around other rooms in your house. If your tree is placed in the living room, as is often the case, then perhaps you can some decorative Christmas bowls in your dining room to bring that Christmas feeling to your table. This type of decoration is very easy: simply find a fairly large bowl (glass would be good but not essential) and fill it with some of your left over baubles and decorations. You may also want to consider adding a bit of sparkle to your dining table with some glitter or fake snow, although you should think over the practicalities of such if you use the table regularly! Perhaps, if this is the case, you can save this treatment for the coffee table.
Time to turn your attention to the lovely chairs in your home; bows! You can invest an a few pieces of colored material and tie them around your dining room chairs and kitchen bar stools and this will really help to spread your festive theme around the home.
Last but not least- a few Christmas wreaths. Just because you are trying to be a bit more Eco-friendly this year and lay of the excessive use of Christmas lights doesn’t mean you should neglect the front of your home. A wreath on the front door is a great way to share your Christmas joy with those around you
Who doesn’t love the Christmas spirit. It’s the best time of the year, the share of love and everything else is just great for everyone.
