Patio’s And Decks

If you want your house to feel like it has more square footage, experts say you need to make sure you have a great “outdoor living room”. Many homeowners today see outdoor living space as a must-have amenity, as a well-planned deck or patio can add a lot of enjoyment to their home. Local realtors say, if you want to sell your home, your outdoor space should make buyers feel like they are on vacation all year round!

A deck is a very affordable option, and concrete is often the most durable and lowest maintenance. But there are many more options to choose from. Vinyl decking requires less maintenance than wood and are more resistant to insects, warping and splintering.

A deck made of wood is low cost and materials are abundant. If you are concerned with rotting, pressure-treated pine and fir are popular decking choices. Other woods like red cedar, redwood, and tropical hardwoods are more durable and have no chemical treatments, but maintenance is still required and those options can be pricey.

Brick, stone and concrete pavers are available in a range of styles and colors and are extremely durable. Very little maintenance is required from the homeowner, but significant site preparation may be needed to ensure proper placement, grade and drainage.
