Feng Shui Tips to Sell Your Home Quickly

Feng Shui Tips to Sell Your Home Quickly

Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese practice of managing the energy in a home or in other spaces, such as an office or a garden. While you might not think that this approach is useful to you, applying basic Feng Shui rules generally results in universally pleasant spaces that people will be drawn to. Increasingly, Feng Shui is moving into more traditional circles. Even the famous financier Donald Trump is a great believer in the power of Feng Shui, and you know how successful he is in real estate.

When you are selling your home, it is important that potential buyers have a good feeling when they are forming first impressions of your home. Applying a few easy Feng Shui principles can make a difference in how fast your home sells.

Better Off Red

In Feng Shui, red is a color of power, wealth and relationships. A red front door or red trim in the front of the house creates a sense of strength and connection even before the potential buyer enters the home. Use red throughout the house by adding small red accessories, such as throw pillows or candles, in every room to represent the element of fire and to bring in good fortune.

Clean Up The Clutter

Feng Shui is about letting the energy flow through your home. It can’t do that if your home is filled with clutter and knick-knacks. Not only will the simpler rooms feel more spacious, but potential buyers will also have an easier time visualizing their own objects in the space. Pack away your collections and personal items and feel the difference. The entryway or front hallway should be absolutely clutter free.

It’s Elemental My Dear Watson

The elements of Feng Shui are wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Balanced elements will lead to a healthy home, and they will also lead to a home that looks integrated and attractive. The elements also have their own colors. Use these to keep any one room from looking too monochromatic. Try for a little of each element in each room. Remember some homes already have the elements, and you can build on what is already there. For instance, wooden furniture or a fireplace are wood and earth, and you can easily add the other elements. Fill a bowl with beautiful, natural rocks for earth, and so on.

It’s All In The Details

A bowl of fruit placed in the south east corner of a room will enhance the wealth energy of a house. But it will also make the home feel more welcoming and pleasant. Bowls or vases of flowers in water are a great way to add water to a room while also adding a pleasant scent and beauty.

Arrange the Furniture to Move the Energy

Feng Shui is all about energy flow. How you arrange furniture in a room can influence the movement of energy. Furniture should be arranged so that you can face a door when sitting on it. Make sure that there are wide paths through the rooms and from one room to another to create a sense of flow.

Feng Shui helps to balance the home and create a feeling of comfort and style. Often, home staging techniques and Feng Shui principles will align when preparing a home for sale. When you combine the two, you will present potential buyers with a home that feels clean and welcoming. And, who knows? Using the proper Feng Shui principles may even bring you fortune and happiness as you sign that sales agreement.

I totally agree with cleaning up the clutter — but I don’t know that the other tips will really sell homes to those who don’t follow Feng Shui. On the other hand, I’ve noticed that many of the home buyers seem to be disproportionately Chinese, so following this advice can appeal to them.
